The “Hamsa” represents the Hand of G.od and is also called “the hand of Miriam”. Hamsa is also the arabic word for five (like the five fingers of the hand) which represents the five books of the Torah. The symbol is very popular in the Middle East as a protection against the “evil eye”.

I drew the original with ink.
